Educational Objectives
- Recognize the risk factors and the signs and symptoms of a heart attack and stroke, and describe how to provide the proper care.
- Learn and perform the primary assessment steps for adults, children and infants to determine health, safety and life-threatening conditions.
- Demonstrate rescue breathing skills for adults, children and infants in respiratory arrest.
- Demonstrate effective skills for removing a foreign body airway obstruction for conscious and unconscious choking adults, children and infants.
- Demonstrate how to provide 1-person and 2-person CPR with high-quality chest compressions for adults, children and infants.
- Deliver effective ventilations to adults, children and infants using a bag-valve-mask (BVM) resuscitator.
- Demonstrate effective use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) for adults, children and infants.
